Some people still think they can throw together a company website, use a few keywords, and wait for the loads of new customers and followers that will undoubtedly show up as a result of their efforts.
Sadly, that approach to search engine optimization won’t work anymore. It never really did in the first place.
Google and the search engines have always been up front about their intentions. They want to improve search and make it as natural a process as possible for the user.
Now, it’s gotten to the point where relevant, high-quality content is the cornerstone of that process. You can’t get by without it anymore, and not just with one type either.
People crave and consume all kinds now, and if your competitors are creating their own text-based content, as well as videos, user-generated content, etc., you or your SEO specialists better catch up.
Text-Based Content Can Be More Than Just a Blog Post
Text-based content marketing doesn’t have to be reserved solely for website content, blog posts, and emails. That all still works, but again, new audiences expect content in new forms.
For instance, case studies are a great way to promote by example. They draw people in in a somewhat honest fashion. E-books are another text-based option. They allow you to provide extended, in-depth content resources to your audience.
A lot of brands are also making clever combinations of text-based and visual content. For example, you can come up with short phrases that fit your story or mission. Then, overlay the text on a high-quality, original image that reinforces or enhances your message.
As NJ SEO experts we can tell you that, nowadays, even with just text-based content alone, you need to make use of the multiple forms and styles out there to better reach and engage with your audience.
Think Quicker and Closer with Visual Content
Visual content, whether images, videos, or infographics, allows you to promote and spread the word about your brand, products, and services in completely different ways than text-based forms.
For starters, you won’t risk coming across like you’re tooting your own horn because you’ll never have to do any tooting at all. In our experience doing SEO in NJ and NY, potential customers are less likely to feel pressured or cornered into action with visual content for this reason.
Images and video production allow you to evoke deep human emotions and connect your story or mission with your audience in ways impossible with any other form of content and visual content, in general, allows you to be completely original, if done creatively and well.
It can be better and faster in terms of delivery and accessibility and it’s easy to share as well. And again, don’t be afraid to think outside the box.
If creating an infographic, for instance, use high quality photos and concise text rather than graphs, stats, and long-winded content. Put your own twist on it.
Also, remember to customize visual content for the specific sites and platforms it’ll be displayed on; sites have different requirements. Be sure to keep any distinguishing features like your color scheme or logo consistent as well.

As always, get to know your audience first.
No matter what form of content you create, it’s always important to research your target audience and perform tests to ensure there will be parts of it that will likely check it out.
How much they get out of the content is up to you, but the form you produce as well as the topics should be well researched. You must have some notion that, some of them at least, will go for it in the first place.
Then, remember to encourage them to share their own content. User-generated content, in any form, is especially helpful.
